We knew we wanted Across The Street, Across The Country to be more than a run-of-the-mill, unfocused podcast. It had to be a structured, polished show, steered by a skilled, experienced interviewer. Denis Grignon is an award-winning journalist with more than 35 years of training in print and broadcast media. His work continues to appear in major Canadian publications, such as The Toronto Star, and on CBC Radio. While he exudes an easy-going, breathy approach, it’s born of careful research and preparation. About his role as producer/host of Across The Street, Across The Country, Grignon says, “Honestly, I’ve enjoyed this more than I expected I would – largely because of how candid and open and thoughtful the interviewees are. It really is a show that so many can connect with.

About The Music

Sure, we could have gone with canned, open-sourced music for our theme. But we wanted a show that stands out. (See all of the above). So we recruited a Juno award-winning musician. As a member of world-renowned The Strumbellas, Darryl James knows a thing or two (or a hundred) about creating a unique but broad-appeal fresh sound. His solo project, Close Kicks, supplies the opening and closing theme songs of each episode. You’ll also hear original music by Cassie Noble, as well as folk artists, Graham Lindsey.
