The Carpenter works in conjunction with staff members and ensures that shop and field projects are completed in a timely manner, on budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Carpenter is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing methods and procedures for the most efficient and economical management of jobs. The Carpenter works with building materials on a construction site with accuracy and attention to detail. The Carpenter follows direction from the Project Manager, Project Coordinator, or Project Manager Assistant to complete assigned task and has superior customer service skills.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities: Follows a written scope and other specifications to determine method of installation, work procedures, and material and tool requirements. Understand and follow local building codes and regulations at all times. Ensure that all job related paperwork is completed. Be responsible for the finished product. Be familiar with removal of interior and exterior building finishes/components and denailing of framing materials. General knowledge of the material and techniques used in general construction/home building, including demolition and rough/finish carpentry. Be precise in finish carpentry while hanging doors and cabinets, installing trim/railings, and setting windows. Be willing to perform drywall repairs, painting/staining, or ceramic installation (backsplashes, etc.) as needed. Be responsible for keeping the job site organized and clean at all times.

Job Requirements

Must lift heavy items of at least 50 lbs on a routine basis. Hold a valid Class G Ontario Driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract. Able to operate company owned vehicles Willing to submit personal information for a criminal background check Ability to follow technical directions. Good communication skills both oral and written. Demonstrated interpersonal skills and team work. Ability to work independently. Self-motivated and self-directed. Demonstrated attention to detail. Time management. Willingness to learn new methods and techniques. Precision oriented and results focused. Experience/Education Minimum of three (3) years of related experience considered an asset. Working at heights considered an asset. Emergency or Standard First Aid would be an asset.
